An International Conference on digitalization of the all stages of the construction was held in the


On 24-25 of September an International Conference ondigitalization of the all stages of the construction was held in the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction. The event was organized by TRIMBLE TEKLA (USA) and AZEL Systems (Azerbaijan) companies.

The main aim of the conference was to discuss the relevant problems in construction sector and their possible solutions in the example of existing, real projects and with the use of the newest technologies which open a way for growth. Conference also focused on the Tekla Trimble offers for civil and industrial construction.

The Rector of the University professor Gulchohra Mammadova noted the importance of the event and pointed out that today information technologies play an important role in our daily lives and additionally in the all spheres of country’s economy.

She stressed that the role of these technologies is increasing every year and each student must acquire relevant technical knowledge.

Rector expressed her confidence that a conference dedicated to the newest information technologies will stimulate the students and teachers of the University.

Next head of AZEL Systems Igor Yakovenko spoke about the company he represents. He noted that company which was created in 2013 is working on the integration of advanced technologies. AZEL Systems is the only authorized representative of Trimble in Azerbaijan and is also a partner of world-renown companies such as Samsung, Autodesk and others.

I. Yakovenko noted that Azerbaijani companies have achieved significant progress in the development and implementation of new technologies. For example, Azfen company has implemented an important project that won international recognition on the basis of Tekla Trimble technology. Meanwhile SOCAR Foster-Wheeler Engineering company which works on the reconstruction of the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery carried out work in accordance with the highest global standards.

He noted that both Azfen and SOCAR Foster-Wheeler Engineering are regional leaders in the use of advanced technologies.

I. Yakovenko also added that around 10 students of the University annually work as interns in the company and receive relevant knowledge on advanced technologies. Today these interns are emplued as qualified specialists in the leading companies. It was also pointed out that this year Tekla Trimble through AZEL Systems passed 46 Tekla software licenses to the University free of charge. One such commercial license costs around 22 thousand euros.

Denis Kuptsov commercial director of Tekla Trimble for CIS countries made a presentation on the topic of “Worldwide trends in construction digitalization, BIM technologies and Trimble Solutions”.

Speaking about technical progress D. Kuptsov noted that this trend is visible in all speheres including medicine, mechanical engineering, aircraft manufacturing and film industry.

Denis Kuptsov pointed out that this is a first such Trimble conference in Azerbaijan. Despite this Azerbaijani companies have used Trimble Solutions in their projects for a long time both within the country and outside it: “We are planning to open a dialogue with local specialists who understand the importance of development of digital technologies and transition to them”.

General manager of Azfen Hamid Hasanov noted that his company has worked in oil and gas sector for 22 years. He stressed that oil and gas production in the sea or on the shore, injecting water back to oil fields as well as transporting clean oil to the Sangachal terminal all happen with the use of advanced technologies. Such work is done with a small number of engineering and technical personnel. Therefore, learning the advanced technologies of TEKLA TRIMBLE is very important today.

Elmaddin Dadashov general manager of the SOCAR Foster-Wheeler Engineering stressed that his company uses Tekla Trimble software to assemble metallic structures in 3D. Additionally in cooperation with the local and foreign specialists company uses this software to design technological installations. Currently SOCAR Foster-Wheeler Engineering works not only with local firms but also with Italian and Spanish companies.

The participants also presented information about new projects and the implementation of Trimble software such as Tekla Structures and Trimble SketchUP

In the end of the event commercial director of Tekla Trimble Denis Kuptsov presented certificates to the participants in the presence of the University Rector professor Gulchohra Mammadova. First general manager of the SOCAR Foster-Wheeler Engineering Elmaddin Dadashov received a certificate for his company achieving highest results in the entire South Caucasus region in 2017 and 2018 in implementation of Tekla Trimble technology. Next general manager of Azfen Hamid Huseynov received a similar award for his company’s achievements in Tekla Trimble implementation in 2019. Finally, Igor Yakovenko was awarded a certificate for AZEL Systems becoming the best strategic partner of the Tekla Trimble in South Caucasus region in the past 3 years.

On the second day of the conference Tekla Trimble technical specialists conducted a practical master-class (seminar) on the use of Tekla Structures software. More than 50 students and teachers of the University attended and received official certificates.
